With the lead up to our most excting day of the year, Midwinter solstice, work on our midwinter gift stepped up a notch. The gift giving was like a Secret santa arrangement with all of us picking names out of a hat and making a present for that person. I got Nick who is a diesel mechanic. I decided to make him an ice axe out of wood and brass. Turns out my brass welding skills left a little to be desired - with the end result ending up molten brass every time i tried! Turns out the person on station with the knack for that kind of welding was Nick himself, so i had to sneakily ask him to weld his own present up. Hopefully he saw the funny side of it all when he opened up his pressie and saw the thing that he had made himself!!! Well i enjoyed a laugh anyhow!! cheeky - maybe! but i did make the rest myself!
