On June 21 it is midwinter solstice. This means that it is the longest night. After this date every day gets longer and we are on the uphill side of winter. This is cause for celebration in a place where the coming of summer means the arrival of more people, mail, and fresh food supplies. So, on this occasion we have a big party. To mark midwinters we have all got one person who's name we pulled out of a hat to make a present for. I have chosen to make something that involves brass brazing. this is a skill i so far don't possess. I am having lessons from one of the dieso's to hopefully become proficient enough to make the present that i plan on making! Hopefully i make it in time!!
